Clubs, sport and summer camps

Summer holidays last almost three months. Find camps and activities, prices and where to check schedules.

The school year ends in mid-June and the holidays last almost three months. Day camps cost €110–350 a week; residential camps in Troodos are around €500 a session.

Summer camps

  • Day camps at private and international schools: €110–350 a week.
  • Language camps: €150–200 a week.
  • Residential camps in Troodos: around €500 for a 6-day session, with some sessions run by English-speaking counsellors.
  • Sports camps at the yacht clubs in Limassol and Famagusta.
  • Themed camps: coding and robotics, STEM, woodworking, maths.

All year round

  • Municipal playgrounds are free: Molos and Dasoudi park in Limassol, Finikoudes in Larnaca, the Kato Paphos seafront.
  • Indoor play centres cost €8–15 an hour and are a lifesaver in the July heat.
  • Sport: swimming and sailing at the clubs, football, tennis, padel (there are plenty of courts), climbing in Troodos, cycling clubs.
  • Language centres offer Greek, English and German with native speakers. You can take certification exams at the Goethe-Institut in Nicosia.

Schools: state, private and international

State schools teach in Greek and are free. Private English-language schools cost €6,000–18,000 a year, and waiting lists can be several years long. Schools following other countries’ curricula are also available.

Kindergartens and nannies

The compulsory year before school is free at state kindergartens. Private nurseries cost €300–600 a month. The compulsory starting age is gradually being lowered.
