Safety: what is happening in 2026
- Phishing emails from "Revolut security" sent from ordinary mail addresses, which know your name.
- Scam listings selling concert tickets from accounts with no name.
- A "recommended recruitment agent" takes an advance and vanishes — the recommender and the agent turn out to be linked accounts.
- "Buy a Telegram tag" buttons and the like are a way to steal your account.
Home burglaries
Burglaries rose noticeably in 2026, especially in Limassol. They work during the day (10:00–13:00) and in the evening (17:30–21:00): ringing the doorbell posing as a delivery to see if anyone is in, marking doors, and climbing through part-open ground-floor windows.
- What helps: an alarm with a siren, cameras on the landings, cameras with a speaker.
- Don't give couriers the entrance code — meet them at the door.
- The ground and top floors carry the highest risk.
- Report a burglary to your city's burglary unit; the general police line is 1460.
