Buses, taxis and car sharing

Each city has its own bus operator and fares. How travel cards work and what taxis and car sharing cost.

Intercity buses are convenient and cheap, but getting around within a city without a car is hard. There is no single transport card — every operator uses the Motion smart card, but each sets its own fares.

Who runs the buses in your city

  • Nicosia and Larnaca — Cyprus Public Transport (CPT).
  • Limassol — EMEL. Paphos — OSYPA. Famagusta — OSEA.
  • Intercity — Intercity Buses. Airports — Kapnos Airport Shuttle and Limassol Airport Express.

  • The official urban taxi tariff by day (06:01–20:30): €3.80 to start, €0.95 per km, €17 an hour waiting, €1.40 per item of luggage.
  • At night (20:31–06:00): €4.80 to start, €1.10 per km. On public holidays, plus €2 per trip.
  • Bolt operates in every major city and at the airports, with the fare fixed in the app before the trip.
  • Limassol to Larnaca airport: an official taxi is €80–100, private transfers €50–60, and Bolt more at peak times.
  • A rural (intercity) taxi is metered differently: a €3.64 minimum charge, then €0.63 per km by day and €0.75 by night; a return trip is cheaper at €0.49 and €0.63 per km. Luggage over 12 kg costs €1.20 by day and €1.96 by night.
  • A fifth passenger adds 20% to the meter, a sixth 40%. A pet travels only in a carrier and for an extra fee.

Car sharing

RideNow is the only free-floating car sharing service: around €1 to start plus €0.07 a minute and €0.27 a kilometre, with 3, 6 and 24-hour packages. It is available in Limassol, Nicosia, Larnaca, Paphos and Ayia Napa, including both airports (an airport end-of-trip fee of €10–19 applies). Fuel and basic insurance are included, foreign licences are accepted, and the minimum age is 18. You may not drive to the north.
